As a family of believers, we are intentional about making sure that our members and regular attendees are supported in their practical, spiritual, and emotional needs. No one should face the challenges and crisis of life alone.

At Open Arms we have taken to heart Jesus New Commandment:  Jesus said, "Love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:34 If we are going to practically live out Jesus' command then we need to be connected.

It's difficult to actively love a person sitting next to us in worship.  We need to get together with them.  We need to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep.  This happens naturally when we spend time together on a regular basis.  We laugh.  We share.  We gather around the Word. We pray.  We serve one another wherever needed.  We love like Jesus loved.

In this sinful world, we are constantly attacked by situations which may feel beyond our control, but are not beyond the control of our Almighty Father! What is needed now are volunteers to support this ministry. With a large enough pool or helpers to draw from, few will not be called upon too frequently, and the support will be a shared effort.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."
(2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

As a Lutheran Church, Jesus of Nazareth is the foundation and center of our faith, life, and practice.  We believe that, as the Old and New Testament scriptures teach us, he is the one true Lord and is working, even now, to bring newness, wholeness, and life to his people and to his world.  In all that we do, we seek to listen to Jesus and to live like him.  Jesus calls us, and all people, to trust in and love God our Father, and to live lives of loving service and sacrifice to/for our neighbors in need.

Our faith can be summarized in the words of the Apostle's Creed, it is an ancient statement of faith that has been, and is, embraced Christians of all denominations.

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
