For your convenience, we've listed some of the most commonly asked questions. If you have others, please don't hesitate to give us a call at (734)699-5000.

Q: What does Open Arms believe?

A: We believe that Christians are saved by faith alone - that Jesus' death on the cross paid the price for the sins of the entire world. His victory over death by rising from the dead three days later opened the one and only way for all of mankind to be saved. We believe that we are utterly sinful, and our only hope to accomplish anything good comes from the power of God's Spirit living in us.

Q: How do I get to Open Arms Lutheran Church?

A: Please click here for directions.

Q: When is worship?

A: Open Arms currently gathers to worship on Sunday mornings at 10:00AM.

Q: What type of church is Open Arms?

A: Open Arms is affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, whose primary mission is to lead people into a strong relationship with Jesus Christ, enabling them to fulfill the great commission of spreading the gospel to the whole earth.

Q: What type of attire can I expect to see at Open Arms?

A: Open Arms welcomes everyone to come as they are.  You'll find a warm and welcoming environment, where you may wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. Our focus is on the message of Christ's love for you.

Q: How does Open Arms respond to those desiring to share personal spiritual expressions in worship?

A: Our worship environment is designed to be comfortable and genuine. Members do, for example, raise their hands and arms in worship or at times speak prayers aloud during music. When someone desires to share a specific spiritual message that they have learned through Biblical study or otherwise in their walk with the Lord, we ask that they speak with the Elders and Pastor before worship.

We seek that everything that is included in the worship service would be edifying to all who attend, build faith, and be in accordance with the teachings of the Bible. The Elders will ensure that the message conforms to Scripture and our beliefs, and will assist the person in how to share their thoughts in an orderly and worshipful manner for the benefit of all. (Titus 1:9)

Q: Do you have ministries for my children and teens?

A: Children and students best learn spiritual truth in ways appropriate and relevant to their age and life stage. We encourage children to worship alongside their family in order to truly understand the community of worship. We also have an active and growing youth ministry to meet the needs of junior and senior high school students.

Q: How often do you have communion? Who is welcome to participate?

A: We serve communion at each worship service. Partaking of the Lord's Supper is a command given by Jesus himself, but scripture makes clear that it is not to be taken lightly. Our worship bulletin explains how we regard Communion, and should a guest not fully understand or agree with those statements, we ask that they speak with our Pastor prior to receiving the Lord's Supper.
