Young 5’s Weekly News
March 13, 2017
Wow! Last week was quite unexpected. School came to an abrupt halt on Wednesday afternoon as we lost power. Since we were closed two days we did not finish our Dr. Seuss week, Y-week, or do our sight word. This week we have a field trip on Tuesday. All this being said, some work will come home undone in order to get back on track. Your child can work on it at home and turn it back in for a prize. Our new letter this week is D. We will focus on Eric Carle books this week after we finish Dr. Seuss.
I hope you were able to read a lot by flashlight. Please participate in our March reading month competition. Our goal is 75% participation for the whole school. You do not have to have a full reading record to turn it in. Also, if you are worried you will forget it Monday morning, feel free to turn it in early. The first prizes will be drawn this Monday.
This week we will learn about Jesus’ sermon on the mount. In Matthew 6, Jesus teaches us about charity, prayer (teaching us The Lord’s Prayer), fasting, earthly teasures, and worry. God provides for all of us and we need to put our trust in Him. It’s interesting that this story comes just after so many people were without power. God provided!
