Young 5’s Weekly News

March 6, 2017

Our letter this week is Y.  Y says the sound you hear in the beginning of yo-yo.  Most kids want to say the w sound for y, w..w..y.  Please practice both w and y sounds at home too.

We will be doing a lot with Dr. Seuss this week.  Especially reading.  Check out our Cat in the Hat had on the wall in our classroom and watch it grow.  Hop on Pop is a great beginning reader and a fun way to work on rhyming.  Any of Dr. Seuss’s books will help with rhyming.

Please participate in our March reading month competition.  Our goal is 75% participation for the whole school.  You do not have to have a full reading record to turn it in.  Also, if you are worried you will forget it Monday morning, feel free to turn it in early.

Jesus Time

We will learn the story of Jairus’ daughter this week.  Jairus’ daughter died as Jesus was on His way to their house.  Jesus told everyone she is not dead, only sleeping.  People laughed at Him knowing she was dead.  Jesus went into her room, took her hand, and told her to get up.  Miraculously, she came back to life.

Tips for home:

o    Do yoga.

o    Make a yummy dinner.

o    Find 5 yellow items in your house.

o    Parents read with your child 15 (or more) minutes per day.  – read Dr. Seuss and rhyme J
