Young 5’s Weekly News
January 2, 2017
I pray you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s. I will be back in the classroom Wednesday. I snuck up on Friday and got to see Landen and Grace during nap. J
We are now in the final stretch of Young 5’s. We will begin working on sight words and reading strategies. We will also continue to work on independent problem solving skills and strategies as well as increase our work on rhyming. We will also continue to work on number sense with skip counting and object addition. This week and next week we will be reviewing the letters we’ve already learned.
I am planning to set up 4 to 5 more field trips between now and June. Each one costs $8.00 or less with the library being free. I find field trips to be very educational and lots of fun. The anticipated trips are:
Michigan Academy of Gymnastics-end of January, Library-mid March, Health Exploration Station-early April, Nankin Mills- late May, and I hope to bring in a field trip the first week in June.
I will confirm dates and let you know as soon as I do. Trips will be planned for Tuesdays when possible.
We will be learning this week about Jesus baptism. We will take a walk through the church to see Open Arms baptismal fount. If your child has been baptized, please send in a picture of their baptism.
