Young 5’s Weekly News

Our first full week is under our belts and it went quite well.  The children seem to be adjusting to the new room and routine quite well.  Please let me know if you have any concerns or questions.

This week we will be doing a lot with apples.  Apples is the theme of the center and we will be making applesauce, doing an apple taste test, reading several books, making apple prints, playing with apple pie play dough, and stacking “apples” as they do in the book, Ten Apples Up on Top by Dr. Seuss.

Our letter this week is G.  We will be golfing and gardening this week.  G makes the sound that you hear in the beginning of girl.   We will focus on the hard G sound not to be confused with the g in giraffe.  We will also learn to recognize the fancy g.

Jesus Time

We learn about the fall into sin this week.  We reference sin often in our classroom throughout the year because we all do it.     This story teaches us that this was not how God intended us to be.  He did not want us to be separated from Him.  So this story directly points to the cross and Jesus sacrifice to take the punishment for our sins.
